Family Fun with Boston Bruins Reading Rinks

The following announcement is posted on the MBLC Grants and Related Programs webpage:

"The Boston Bruins are celebrating their second year of collaboration with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and The Massachusetts Regional Library Systems with a creative approach to encouraging children and families to visit their public library and spend time reading together. The team is donating five (5) Bruins Reading Rinks to Massachusetts public libraries. The Reading Rinks consist of a carpet 5.4ft x 7.8ft Bruins logo rug, 2 bookcases made with hockey sticks, child sized puck and hockey stick table with 4 child sized stools, child sized directors chair, child sized rocking chair, and other fun Bruins decorations.

The MBLC has created a simple application (doc) for interested libraries.
Libraries that may not have the space for an entire Reading Rink are encouraged to apply and specify what part of the rink they would be able to use in their library.
The Boston Bruins will be in charge of installation of the Reading Rinks.

2010 Summer Reading Program Coupons and Passes

Coupons and passes are a natural way to provide incentives to participants of our 2010 Go Green at your library Statewide Library Summer Reading Program.  This year, seven western Massachusetts tourist attractions have generously accepted our invitation to enhance our reading program with discount coupons and/or passes. On April 21, WMRLS will email the user name and password to access this year's coupons to the contact person at each western Massachusetts Library that is participating in our upcoming summer reading program.

Be sure to visit our WMRLS Summer Reading Program Information Webpage to read more about our 2010 Coupons. ~ Sincerely,  Janet Eckert, WMRLS
